RYFSA Newsletter: February

The summer softball season is rapidly approaching, and RYFSA is gearing up for tryouts and team formation. If you haven’t registered yet, please take a moment to do so.

• 10U, 12U, and 14U closes this Sunday (March 1) at midnight.
• 6U, 8U, and High School remains open until April 3.

As we get ready for tryouts, here are the key facts you need to know.

Who needs to tryout?

• All players wishing to try out for the 10U or 12U traveling team must attend tryouts to be considered.
• Any player who wants to pitch or catch in either Rec or Gold divisions must attend both player tryouts and pitching/catching evaluations.
• Play ups will be considered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the RYFSA age coordinators.

When are tryouts?
All tryouts will be held at the RCTC Dome.

• 10U: March 7, 9:00–10:45 a.m.
• 12U: March 8, 9:00–11:00 a.m.
• 14U: March 7, 10:45 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

The Board would like to remind current Rochester high school students (graduating in 2026) or current college student who previously participated in RYFSA to consider applying for the RYFSA Scholarship Program, recognizing students and past participants who demonstrate sportsmanship, leadership, dedication, and community involvement through youth softball.

The RCTC Yellowjacket Softball team is already taking the field and giving back to the Rochester softball community. On April 4 and April 25, RCTC will be playing double headers, with games at noon and 2 p.m. After the second game, the coaches and players will be conducting a short camp for all RYFSA players who want to attend.

We are always looking for passionate volunteer members of our board of directors. Email jen@ryfsa.com if you are interested in joining us. The following board roles are currently open: 14U Coordinator, Field Director, DIBS Coordinator, and Sponsorship Coordinator.
