Division-specific information for Rec leagues

6U REC

  • Registration: $50 (includes a t-shirt)
  • League nights: Tuesday/Thursday practice and games (rotating dates) with other RYFSA 6U teams hitting off of a tee.
  • All games will be in Rochester.
  • In-house rec league starts on May 26. There will be no games/practices on Memorial Day.

8U REC

  • Registration: $100 (includes a jersey, game socks, and a belt)
  • SFC (games) start on May 26. There will be no games/practices on Memorial Day or the week of July 4.
  • League Nights: Tuesday practice, Thursday game
  • Will attend one tournament in June in Rochester (TBD).
  • Coordinator: Chad Buchmann (email).

10U REC

  • Registration: $200 (includes a jersey, game socks, and belt)
  • SFC (games) start on May 26. There will be no games/practices on Memorial Day or the week of July 4.
  • League Nights: Monday and Wednesday, with practice one night and double-header games the other.
  • Will participate in the Rochester Summer Heat Tournament on June 6 or 7 and the SFC tournament on July 19/20.

  • SFC (games) start on May 26. There will be no games/practices on Memorial Day or the week of July 4.

  • Will participate in the Rochester Summer Heat Tournament on June 6 or 7 and the SFC tournament on July 19/20.
  • Additional practice night at coach’s discretion.

14U REC

  • Registration: $265 (includes a jersey, game socks, and belt)
  • SFC (games) start on May 26. There will be no games/practices on Memorial Day or the week of July 4.
  • League nights: Monday and Wednesday double header games. 
  • Will participate in the Rochester Summer Heat Tournament on June 6 or 7 and the SFC tournament on July 19/20. Option to pay-to-play in additional tournaments based on player interest. 
  • Additional practice night at coach’s discretion.

High school

  • Registration: $200 (includes a jersey, game socks, and belt)
  • SFC (games) start on May 26. There will be no games/practices on Memorial Day or the week of July 4.
  • Double header games one evening per week. High school will not have a designated game night in an effort to avoid cancellations due to player availability
  • Will participate in the Rochester Summer Heat Tournament on June 6 or 7 and the SFC tournament on July 19/20.

Travel team (Gold level) team information 

Tournament teams (10U & 12U)

Updated this season: Travel teams will play SFC Gold league and commit to 5 additional tournaments throughout the spring/summer. Tryouts are required and teams will be comprised of top 12/13 players based on tryouts. If there are enough players interested, a second team may be formed and leveled gold or silver accordingly.

  • June 12-14: Prior Lake Rock the Ponds
  • June TBD: Red Wing
  • June 26-27: Stewartville Under the Lights
  • July: State (Location TBD)

Accepting a roster spot on a travel team requires commitment to the full-team schedule, including at least 4/5 tournament weekends.

12U REC

General information 

Location

All summer and fall games will be played the Rochester Youth Fastpitch Softball Complex, which is located at 827 36th Avenue SE, Rochester, MN.

Volunteers

We are a volunteer supported organization and the Association will communicate volunteer opportunities throughout the summer season. Families that have not completed their dib slot by end of Fall Ball season will be charged $150.

Coaches and communications

Each team will be assigned volunteer coaches including a head coach and assistant coaches. They will be your primary point of contact for the season and will be responsibile for communicating key details. Coaches will receive team rosters and will communicate the schedule information as it becomes available.

Game times

Game times will be in the evening on week nights (see days by division above) during the summer season. All games will be hosted at the Rochester Softball Complex with double headers starting at 6 p.m.

Inclement weather/no-shows

 In the case of bad weather, home team coaches will be responsible for making a decision on postponement and contacting the opposing coach no later than 4 p.m. on the day of the game. Teams will have a 15 minute grace period to arrive at the playing field. Teams who do not arrive within this grace period will forfeit the game. 

Rescheduling games

All make-up game dates and locations are to be agreed upon by the two head coaches. No games that are forfeited due to lack of players are eligible to be rescheduled.  

Suggested equipment

Each youth is suggested to have the following equipment for Fall Ball:

  • Fielding glove
  • Batting glove
  • Batting helmet with a mask (stamped NOCSAE)
  • Fielding mask
  • Bat (stamped with the USA or ASA logo)
  • Sliders
  • Plastic cleats are all youth younger than 14U
  • Black softball pants
  • Water bottles

Note: Each team will be issued basic equipment including batting helmets, bats, and catcher’s gear.
